Body Image, self esteem and self worth

11/30/2014

What a week, Danni Rowlands and Nina Stabey were my guests for this episode of Stay in the Loop with Lucy.

Danni Rowlands is the Education Manager from The Butterfly Foundation, a woman who has lived a great many experiences with all the subject matters from this weeks' episode and therefore shared with us from her lived experience how she is keen to address the cause of body image, disordered eating and eating disorders.

Nina Stabey, a naturopath and owner of The Healing Ingredient gave some great practical insights and offered a couple of recipes which I have listed below….Yummy or what!
The interview is well worth a listen with a pen and paper as we look at where we get these perceptions of who and what we should look like and how we can see the influences as just that, influences. Building a sense of who we are and dating ourselves came back again…getting to know the true beauty that we all are regardless of what our heads can tell us sometimes.

The 2nd half of the show built on the first by looking at how food can affect our mood and perhaps contribute to this negative talk.

We unpacked and undressed the not so deliciousness of sugar! Yes, being someone who lived on sugar in all its forms for many years I was a marketers dream. I remember watching the The Men Who Made Us Fat on ABC and realising I had fallen hook line and sinker for all their marketing tricks in the 70s! I was quite furious with myself for not seeing the manipulation but I also now appreciate that they were and still are working very hard for me to not see it...so I now have to choose to see what the motivation behind much of the advertising and marketing I come across is.  That is for another show!

I have added a link should you be interested to some interesting articles.

Lastly, thank you, it was a great show and I have included all the resources to the side in case you want to follow any of them up.

Next week will be the last week till January so you can go back and listen to some of the others if you want to…I learn each week but have loved every minute – thanks for coming along with me :-)

Nina loves to inspire people to
'Love feeding themselves back
to health and vitality'.

Recipes

Here are the pictures to go with the recipes on from the show....you will have to listen for the ingredients :-)))
