What a combination right?! well check out David Coburn, Andy Marselos and Janet Carr as they share some gems with us.
This week David Coburn came and joined me as he was celebrating finishing his HSC 3 days before the show! David shared some fresh insights into what that final year feels like and the balance he to find between his study and relaxation.
He gives a big shout out to some of his teachers and has some funny and slightly disturbing stories from his referee training with regards the behaviour of men and parents on and around the sporting field who should definitely know better! All in all he contributed enormously to every conversation we had. I look forward to keeping in touch with him and hearing more about what he gets up to in the next few months. Safe driver course tips and reviews! A link to the Hart course mentioned in the show is listed in the resources section David’s top tip was to ensure you have a study plan – that way it is not all stuck in your head and it has some order. Andy Marselos from Headspace’s Youth Advisory Group. Andy has a very full life, between advocating and studying and he shared that he has to be mindful of burnout. Andy goes into schools and attends events sharing with others the support and help that is available should it be needed. We spoke about mentors and silent judgement both of which are well worth a listen. Andy is also a referee and spoke about parental abuse on the side of the football pitch. Andy gave a hat off to Dr Mooney’s wisdom…take a step back and smell the roses as being a turning point in his life. Between us we launched our campaign – New Years Eve 2015 Bottle Swop! Watch this space! Rheza Tan – Service Manager Headspace Chatswood and Brookvale (due to open in December) Rheza manages the set up and organisation for both centres and was a mine of information about how young people can get involved with their local centres. Every Headspace Centre has a Youth advisory Group so get in touch and get involved. Details are listed below in the resources section. Janet Carr – Creator and Executive Producer Good Game – Janet had a wealth of information about computer games and we specifically spoke about the Good Game episode from mental health week, which I have attached a link to below – well worth checking out. Janet is a gamer herself and can see how it brings teams together – her team is testimony to her words. Gems of the Day
