Robyn Jones, Tony Sambell and Stephen Gammack were my guests this week to talk about toxic masculinity. What was clear by the end of this show is this is a conversation that goes beyond gender and is about the small things we brush over, the small elements of abuse we ignore till they become normalised and accept till we have an 'extreme' case which ends up being front page news. All too often it them becomes a 'gender' issue with two sides drawn and no true way forward. There has to be a better and more loving way to be with each other.
I feel very honoured to have been able to facilitate this show.
Is that too big a statement?? I don't think so...in my experience the outside is a worryingly accurate reflection of my inside and perhaps we need a little support with the why, where and how of decluttering.
Have you considered that the extremes of clutter start with the small stuff getting out of hand? At what time do we consider the small stuff to be big enough to do something about? Join Jenny Hayes from Bright Blue Sunshine and Lucy Dahill talk about decluttering your home, your wardrobe even, perhaps, your life!
What do we mean when we say we love unconditionally? Do we have conditions, expectations around our love with and for another? Would we like to change just one or two things about our friends or partner?
If we start from the Ageless Wisdom premiss that Love is who we are, it is what we are made of and where we are from then we can ask whether we are beings of love or beings of going. Today we look at the fullness of the word Love, we consider it alongside, harmony, truth, being nice, being consistent and how to build an openness to consider love in our own lives and bodies. Imagine if there was a way to love and be loved that was so simple and normal that it was actually harder work not to Love in that way. In a world where Connection and Love seem to be what we all want but what we don't seem to achieve check out the latest episode from Stay in the Loop with Lucy. Can we be people who choose to see below the surface and invest in relationships and Love.
Where does abuse come from? Is it always someone else's problem or are there parts of our own lives that could be contributing to the global picture because we are taking a level of normal that is not normal at all and yet we are not calling it out for fear of standing out?
This episode is a bit of soul searching and asks us all to consider the impact of what we did and what we do.
Check this out - the latest show with Jean Gamble talking about relationship breakdowns. It is full of examples to bring understanding of how to deal with the hurts we feel when we are not understood and practical ways to ensure we do not carry those hurts from one relationship to another.
Key points to remember - No-one wins when we go into naming, shaming and blaming Decency must be the bedrock for the way we behave in every interaction.
Parents play a vital role in safe party practices for teenagers growing up from offering a safe space for teenagers to learn how to party safely but also how to offer the boundaries that they may not feel strong enough to make for themselves. Tenee Arthur, Jessica Curran and Nathalia Bennet represented the Mount St Benedict College Future Problem Solving team who are just about to head to Wisconsin in the USA for the International Conference.
There are some great tips offered by students who know first hand the support they need to be safe
Same-sex couples can now marry - yes, it was voted on by the Australian people, it was voted on by our parliament - both houses and the majority have said a thumbs up to #loveislove. But what is the journey to get there? What about those who didn't vote yes? Gabrielle Caplice and Annette Baker join me in the studio to share what their young lives were like and how it felt for the validity of relationships like theirs to be the subject of nationwide discussion. This is an up close and personal interview which will be a wonderful support to anyone who is open to bringing more understanding to loving relationships. They share what it feels like to not fit 'the picture' of what we are brought up to believe a relationship is supposed to look like.
There are four parts to this episode and each gives an insight into the man we see on our screens and hear through our radios. Rob Carlton is an Logie Award winning actor, a writer, a story teller but in our interview, her is simply a man and a father who talks about the importance of sensitivity in men and decency and respect in sport.
We have such a long way to go in this respect in life, men still feel they will not get work if they share how they are feeling yet the pressure of not sharing how they are feeling can sometimes have irreversible results.
Today I spoke to Chris and Aileen Savill, the co-founders of United Tradies a fledgling local business formed from the desire to create a business that not only made people’s lives easier but also could help change lives for the better. It is a win-win really - you get work done by tradies who believe in community and someone in the local community gets an opportunity to get a project done each month sponsored by United Tradies and the awesome team on their books!
4 people share their relationships with God reflecting 4 religions. Is there one path to God or are we all held in a body of Love, the body of the Universe, the body of God and this is the source we are all feeling and responding to?
It has taken me many years to say the word God without feeling an awkwardness around it, without feeling like there was an apology for mentioning the word. So it was a breath of fresh air to talk to these people and contemplate a relationship what a relationship with God might look, feel and sound like and hear how people came to that relationship in their lives. One thing is for certain, we need to Be the change we want to see in the world, everything matters to someone somewhere and that someone starts with us. So thank you Andrew Starr, Wayne Zwar, Nasrin Azizi and Liane Mandalis, |
