Before you do anything in life, be sure of yourself because when you are unsure of you, you will be unsure of what you are
The main driver for
Neil Holmes from St Ives High School and Oliver and Alexander Moor in the studio with me today, talking about careers and work experience.
My guest today was Shani, as ever Shani brought a wonderful depth to all the conversations we had and as a result this episode is well worth the download.
In this episode our discussions centred around the importance of being yourself when you start school, how it supports your mental health but also helps you navigate relationships in a simpler more solid way. Kym Carlson from Ku-ring-gai Youth Development Service KYDS expanded on the subject for us with an addendum to last week's interview.
A full house today, Jeremy (yr11) and Angus (yr7) and Andy Marselos - 2nd year Uni and representative for Headspace as well as other youth mental health support networks. Conversations travel around starting high school, study habits, addictive social media and youth mental health. They all offered great conversation and some pertinent insights across a diverse range of topics.
Top tips were flowing and I have included a few here...I also have an interview with Kym Carlson from KYDS talking about starting High School.
I had a very dynamic co-presenter with me in the studio today - Esther Shim. Esther completed her International Baccalaureate in 2014 and is now getting ready to start a media course at University. Hopefully she will be around and helping me in episodes to come building her experience and making some great shows at the same time! Also in todays show is Vicki Condon from the Raise Foundation.
First show for 2015 - It is great to be back and I can't wait to share with you all the amazing guests and interviews we have lined up for 2015. Today our guests are Rebecca Baldwin and Simon Asquith. They shared valuable insight and experience into the world of digital technology and addiction and music festivals
Last show for the year and Danni McClellan a psychologist with KYDS was my guest for Stay in the Loop with Lucy today.
We spoke about schoolies and the dangers that can face students if they do not think ahead Top tips included:
This week we cover my Youth Action training camp and the Human Rights Commission Consultation and introduce a dynamo guest - Shani who is a month old graduate from HSC and shares with us what life was like at school, after school and all the extra curricular activities that she undertook.
Shani tells us about debating and the intricacies of all the politics in debating – a very good realistic interview for those who are interested in entering that field. Shani was a perfect guest to discuss rights and responsibilities with her interest is law and international studies. She brought very astute insight to the conversation and to the interview with Tim Wilson. |
