This week I speak to Tim England about his work as a Dementia Champion. When we have an ageing population it is vital that we talk honestly about some of the challenges associated with the range of symptoms described by this syndrome. Person Centred Care is the way forward but what does that involve? How important is connection and touch to the person with the condition? How important is an advanced Care Plan? In this episode we talk about what dementia is, what support is available for both the carer and their loved one and how we can bring a model of prevention into the upcoming generations.
This week’s show on Stay in the Loop with Lucy is part of a series on lying, today we touch on the integrity in politics and questions if we are viewing politics from the right space. Have we perhaps lost our way when toeing the party line is a non-negotiable and theatre is more important than policy or leading by example when it comes to debating. I cover the Fitzgerald survey and continue to ask why all politicians did not stand up and say 'absolutely, there is no question that I stand by that level of ethics and accountability', should we be concerned that we even have to ask? My guest today is Rebecca Briant, a bright young student who is steady and wise as she leads us through her observations and my buddy in the studio was Austin.
Why do we lie? This show is the start of a series on lies and lying and a look at where it starts. Has it become so normal that we now have acceptable lies and unacceptable lies? This is the first in a series of shows on the subject and joining me for this initial discussion is Jean Gamble who says "Lying is a cognitive skill and a stage of differentiation"
Human Trafficking is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world
When you consider that quote you have to ask yourself where is the demand that is being fed by such a supply? How can we choose not to pay attention when it is possible that by turning a blind eye we are not being discerning about what services we are using, what we are buying and what may well be going on in our own backyard that is feeding the industry. Ashleigh Clarke and Paige Edwards from A21 join me to talk about their dedication to eradicating the industry.
