Mens Health Week - MoMents in Time

How true - all those little moments add up to big moments, particularly if the little moments have not been ones that taught you how to deal with what you were feeling, the emotions that went unexpressed and unsupported. They can leave young men feeling vulnerable and unless we have learnt to see that vulnerability as a strength it can result in dangerous or unsociable behaviour that does them no favours whatsoever - as a young person or as an adult. Join me as I interview Dean Quirke a health and wellness educator.

Religion in Schools and the Human Rights Dinner 2015

6/25/2015

Looking back on today's show it was all about Freedom. Freedom of association, freedom of religion, freedom to choose and where those freedoms are taken away or clouded.

We covered:

Religious education in schools - to opt in or opt out? do we really have a choice?

and

Human Rights Dinner and the start of Human Rights Awareness week.

I did have lots of what's ons...but they seemed irrelevant to put in the podcast so it sounds like I end the show really abruptly! Perhaps it is better - short and to the point!

FIFA Corruption, the human cost and Sydney Film Festival

6/10/2015

Todays show was all about corruption and why it happens. What the FIFA corruption scandal is uncovering is not dissimilar to a Shakespearean play - almost unbelievable in its' twists and turns and its highlighting of the darker side of human nature and behaviour. All the links that I speak about in the segment are below.

I also cover the Sydney Film Festival and the proposed council mergers between Hornsby and Ku-ring-gai councils.

As always - keep in touch and let me know any suggestions for shows you have or if you would like to come on and be a guest.

Equality and What's on!

6/6/2015

Equality was the topic of the day - I think this topic is bigger than big and actually the root of a great many illogical happenings in our world.  Here is how the thread came together from the news of the week...
  • Marriage equality - in the shape of the Irish vote for same sex marriage.
  • Relationship equality in the shape of the terrifying rise of awareness around domestic abuse.
  • Abuse of power is a lack of respect for the equality of all human beings - this can encompass the abuse by adults of children as seen in the investigations into the abuse of children in the Catholic church and other organisations.
  • Abuse of power and a flagrant disregard to equality has been seen in the unfolding FIFA corruption allegations.
