Top tips for Learning to Drive and 1st time voting in Australia

3/26/2015

Utiling a mobile phone
when you are driving
is the same as being mid-range on an alcohol breath test
Guests today were Senior Constable Lynda Hart, a School Liaison Officer who was a wonderful support sharing information about some of the Learn to Drive programs available in the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai area. We also had Louise Talbot who has worked for two MPs on the Legislative Council on and off for the past 25 years. Louise advised us on processes and understandings around voting. We had 2 students dropping in today - Angus and Jeremy both made appearances on the show in between their after school activities. All in all I hope you will find some very practical tips!!

Mind Your Language - Refugees and Asylum seekers

3/19/2015

The team from Mount St Benedict College crammed into the studio today to bring the most amazing show to the Triple H listeners. The show talked about the language we use around refugees and asylum seekers and asks if we have a responsibility for influencing the debate through the words we choose.

Language used about refugees has the potential to dehumanise vulnerable people

Triple H's International Women's Day Special 8th March 2015

3/17/2015

My guests were Mary Wilson co-presenter from the Hubbub, Bev Carter from It's Time To Shine and Donna Gianniotis from Yoga and Healing. I also have an interview with Annabel Daniel from Women's Community Shelters.

The audio is well worth listening to...apologies for the speed that I start the show - I am sure the conversation has sped me up...surely I don't speak that fast...unless perhaps the rush of morning accompanied me into the studio for the opening chat of the show... a good lesson :-)

Some photos from the day...

International Women's Day for Young Women

3/10/2015

In todays show I was joined by 4 extraordinary young women. What can I say, I was blessed. They took me on a whirlwind tour of what it is like to grow up female and all the things that happen and matter to them. I probably spoke way too much but by the 2nd half of the show everyone was feeling much more comfortable with expressing how they felt and we could have gone on for another hour!

Homelessness with Homelessness Australia and StreetWork

3/3/2015

On todays show I interviewed 2 guests who brought great depth and breadth to the homelessness episode. Glenda Stevens from Homelessness Australia and Tim Sheerman from StreetWork. I hope you will be as inspired as me when you listen to the podcast. I think I say amazing and inspiring way too many times but to be honest I say it as it is - they are amazing, what they do is amazing and I am inspired.

How often do we simply walk past a homeless person without giving them a second glance.
How will my decision in Canberra affect 24,000 people?
The main driver for
homelessness in Australia
is domestic violence
