What a week, Danni Rowlands and Nina Stabey were my guests for this episode of Stay in the Loop with Lucy.
Danni Rowlands is the Education Manager from The Butterfly Foundation, a woman who has lived a great many experiences with all the subject matters from this weeks' episode and therefore shared with us from her lived experience how she is keen to address the cause of body image, disordered eating and eating disorders. Nina Stabey, a naturopath and owner of The Healing Ingredient gave some great practical insights and offered a couple of recipes which I have listed below….Yummy or what!
This week we cover my Youth Action training camp and the Human Rights Commission Consultation and introduce a dynamo guest - Shani who is a month old graduate from HSC and shares with us what life was like at school, after school and all the extra curricular activities that she undertook.
Shani tells us about debating and the intricacies of all the politics in debating – a very good realistic interview for those who are interested in entering that field. Shani was a perfect guest to discuss rights and responsibilities with her interest is law and international studies. She brought very astute insight to the conversation and to the interview with Tim Wilson.
Some really valuable interviews today - with Brian Williamson about employment law and new jobs, David Citer, drugs and alcohol and the pressure faced by teens.
What a combination right?! well check out David Coburn, Andy Marselos and Janet Carr as they share some gems with us.
This week Jessica Gamble was my guest in the studio and we certainly unpacked stress and anxiety! Jessica explained that the two are not the same and how they feel different - both physically and emotionally. Getting to know our body and how we feel. can support us in the long term to understand how to handle those acute episodes of stress and anxiety.
Nina Stabey from The Healing Ingredient was my phone guest and shared with us the connection between our digestive system and our nervous system and explains why we can put our digestion all out of kilter from being stressed.
My guests today were:
Rosanna a Youth Ambassador from ReachOut.com. Rosanna was due to come in for a quick interview and stayed for the whole show! she was a great co-host and helped unpick many aspects of stress around HSC and promoting the amazing initiative through ReachOut.com - #thereislifeafter I also spoke to Geeth Geenagee from the YMCA Youth and Government Think Tanks and Youth Advocate. Geeth shared with us loads of great information about the Think Tanks run by the YMCA and how to get involved. We discussed the most recent think tank which was on Tim Wilson's Rights and Responsibilities 2014 submission request. They are great interviews so check them out! The show primarily focuses on getting engaged with life and what is going on - there can be a tendency for us to disengage from life because we don’t like what is going on and don’t feel we can make a difference, but if we choose not to know about it we can’t complain about the decisions that are made on our behalf!
There are some amazing people being amazing and doing amazing things and not necessarily looking for attention or to be famous - I felt it was time we gave them a voice and shared what they are up to with the listeners. |
